<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Berry Lime Cider soap ~ this one has strawberry lime cider as the water-based part of my recipe and I matched that with both colour and scent.</span></span><br />

When I was in high school I studied Ancient History and my favourite topic by far was ancient Egypt. I was transported by tales of pharaohs, treasure, pyramids, gods and goddesses. This year my youngest son has been studying Egyptian history and this re-awakened my interest. Did you know that the ancient Egyptians were the first in the world to extract flower essences and they are credited as some of the first perfumers in history? I have now been inspired to created my Egyptian Collection and in my next post will take you on a mystical journey through time......</span></span></span></span><br />

I did have a little holiday in the middle there, so that side-tracked me. Five days on Queensland's glorious Gold Coast. Even though it is the middle of winter in the southern hemisphere, we had mostly sunny and warm days and the scenery (and food!) were wonderful.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: small;">But now it is back to reality..... and soaping pics.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Fairy Dance set up quickly in the mould so I didn't achieve the swirls and textured top that I was imagining. What I did get is possibly even lovelier, which often happens in my magical world of soaping. When I am in the middle of making a batch of cold process soap and things don't go to plan, I just repeat Dory's philosophy to myself.... </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: small;">"just keep swimming, swimming, swimming"</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Here is how Fairy Dance looked in the mould ~</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: small;">I scented it with a custom blend of fragrance oils that individually play very nicely in my soap. Together however was a different story! The end result is definitely worth it as the blend is </span><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" data-reactid=".r[31bjr].[1][4][1]{comment10151723613502490_11047565}.[0].[right].[0].[left].[0].[0].[0][2]"><span data-reactid=".r[31bjr].[1][4][1]{comment10151723613502490_11047565}.[0].[right].[0].[left].[0].[0].[0][2].[0]"><span data-reactid=".r[31bjr].[1][4][1]{comment10151723613502490_11047565}.[0].[right].[0].[left].[0].[0].[0][2].[0].[2]">fruity, tart, sweet and floral
all at once. Sun-sweetened, delicious dark raspberries warmed by a hint

I made this after a good customer requested the scent (thank you!) and I am really very happy with how it turned out.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">My Fudge Soap range now consists of Raspberry Fudge, Orange Creme Fudge, Honey Fudge and Banana Fudge as well as the newest choc one. I developed my recipe with the idea in mind of creating soaps that smell like fudge and look like fudge and, more importantly, even <i>feel</i> like fudge. Each bar has a dense and velvety texture that really does feel fudge-like to me. Lather is something very <span style="font-size: small;">important to me as a soapmaker and <span style="font-size: small;">I am thrilled with how this range of soap lathers. <span style="font-size: small;">Each bar has a lovely, thic<span style="font-size: small;">k and velvety <span style="font-size: small;">lather that is truly decadent<span style="font-size: small;"> to wash with.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span><br />

My new Fairy Dance soap frustrated me... big time! I soaped a custom scent blend using fragrance oils that I know do not accelerate trace in my soap, yet my soap batter set up very quickly. <span style="font-size: small;">F</span>or non-soapers, 'acceleration' means the soap batter gets thick <span style="font-size: small;">fast </span>and this can foil the best laid swirly plans.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Fairy Dance didn't do what I wanted it to - but it turned out very pretty even so. Surprisingly so actually<span style="font-size: small;">. I was sad when I first fin<span style="font-size: small;">ished it and could only see its imp<span style="font-size: small;">erfections, yet now I have embraced its <span style="font-size: small;">voluptuous</span> texture *grin*</span></span></span></span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: small;">I have been having fun soaping just lately. Well, I always have fun..... but I have been playing a little more and using my creativity. This can be challenging and the results are always worth it! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: small;">Here are two new ones for Mothers Day ....</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: small;">Hydrangea Holiday ~ <span class="fbPhotosPhotoCaption" data-ft="{"type":45}" id="fbPhotoSnowliftCaption" tabindex="0"><span class="hasCaption">Scented
with a realistic, fresh hydrangea fragrance to transport you to your
own private Mediterranean escape! Teamed with gentle olive oil, silk and
with shea butter added for a creamy, moisturising boost. </span></span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><span class="fbPhotosPhotoCaption" data-ft="{"type":45}" id="fbPhotoSnowliftCaption" tabindex="0"><span class="hasCaption">This
fragrance accelerated very quickly - as florals can do - and my usual
chopstick swirl texture on top ended up a little lumpy, so I liberally
sprinkled glitter and voila! This is so pretty I will be keeping it in
my regular line up.</span></span></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20130419_120111_zpsae12dca1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20130419_120111_zpsae12dca1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

is one of my luxury buttermilk soaps scented with a blend of citrus,
rich florals and earthy herbs; balanced on a glowing base of precious
amber, rich vanilla bean and warm musk ~ warm, enveloping, sensual and
comforting. </span></span></span><br />

do you dress up a gorgeous smelling yet quite brown soap? I was
encouraged to try brushing mica on top and I think it gave this soap an
elegant look to match the rich fragrance.</span></span></span><br />
<span class="fbPhotosPhotoCaption" data-ft="{"type":45}" id="fbPhotoSnowliftCaption" tabindex="0"><span class="hasCaption"><br /></span></span>

<span style="font-size: small;"><span class="fbPhotosPhotoCaption" data-ft="{"type":45}" id="fbPhotoSnowliftCaption" tabindex="0"><span class="hasCaption"><br /></span></span></span>
<span style="font-size: small;"><span class="fbPhotosPhotoCaption" data-ft="{"type":45}" id="fbPhotoSnowliftCaption" tabindex="0"><span class="hasCaption">Another soap I made recently was a complete experiment with how I can make a soap look. I have developed my own take on c<span style="font-size: small;">ommon soaping practices</span> with coathanger swirls and in-the-pot swirls and layers, yet I haven't ever let my creativity loose on developing my own swirling style. This new soap was my first step in that direction and once cut it will either be a total mess inside or a work of art.... lol. I blended lavender essential oil for a refreshing twist on my usual berry scent, so I call this Raspberry Lavender ~</span></span></span><br />

It always seems to sneak up on me, which sounds silly I know. I have a busy month in October each year ... then suddenly (it seems) it is November with December looming ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: small;">My thoughts have turned to food as inspiration for soap, but not your usual Christmas fare. Living in a country that celebrates Christmas in Summer we tend to eat salads and cold compilations at Christmas time. Why did I start craving fudge? I have been eating sugar free since February so that may have something to do with it. I have found several wonderful blogs dedicated to healthy eating and discovered that you can make sweetly indulgent treats without sugar, and fudge has been enticing me for a while now.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: small;">This craving has transferred to my soaping creations, so please welcome my new range ~ Delightful Fudge Soaps. These soaps have moisturising olive oil and creamy cocoa butter with luxurious colloidal oatmeal added too.</span><br />

Today the sun is shining (when they said it wouldn't) and a very cool breeze is blowing my washing line dry. Here on the East Coast of Australia we have been blessed with frequent rain (<i>frequent</i> rain...) over the past two years. We are usually a very dry continent, so all this extra rain has been either a bonus for gardens and lawns, or havoc waiting to be wreaked via floods. Still, today it is not raining and my washing is drying nicely so I am thankful.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I have been making soap for a new wholesale account and actually thought to take a couple of pics of a new batch in the process of being swirled in my mould. Would you like to see how I create my swirls? It is such a simple process with a lovely result. I use the 'In The Pot' method to colour my soap and once it is poured into the mould it swirls itself. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Here you can see the soap batter has been poured into my Nizzy mould and I have drizzled the last drops of coloured soap over the top in diagonal lines (sorry for the blurry photo). </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120729_152804.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120729_152804.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Now you can see it after I have used a chopstick to pull through the soap diagonally back and forth across the mould, starting at the top right corner and finishing at the bottom left. I then swirl in the same manner <i>across</i> my first lines, starting at the top left corner and finishing at the bottom right.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120729_152844.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120729_152844.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Lastly, I place my dividers into the soap batter and now you can see how each final bar will look once unmoulded and trimmed.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120729_152928.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120729_152928.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I have lots of new soap photos to take on our next sunny day, so until then have fun and I will be back with fresh soap bling *smile*</span><br />
<br />Topcathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11863479657181221708noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2379047203459943693.post-88877616404894268902012-06-22T16:31:00.000+10:002012-06-22T16:31:11.883+10:00I'm Sorry!<span style="font-size: small;">.... really, really sorry. I am having trouble believing how long it has been since I posted here. To me, it feels like only a few weeks. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">What have I been doing you ask? I have been spending time catching up on soap re-stocks as well as spending time on more mundane things, like work. Hubby and I have also been 'spring cleaning' in winter. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">It <i>is</i> winter in our part of the world..... brrrrrrr..... </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">The reason? A really, really good one ~ we have had quite a lot of our interior rooms re-painted (for the first time in more than 18 years!) so it was very well worth scrubbing walls, ceilings, skirting boards and architraves for that.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">To make up for how long I have been neglecting you all I am sharing some quick pics of new creations (click on the pics to see them better). I will have some prettier 'staged' photos very soon, I promise!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">New soap 'Rooibos & Lychee' using rooibos (red tea) for the lye liquid and sprinkling rooibos powder on top. This is scented with a Bramble Berry fragrance oil called Lychee and Red Tea and it smells totally yummy ~</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120601_171853.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120601_171853.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Here is a new version of my 'Kiss Me' soap, using cubed soap embeds on top rather than soap balls. It still has lots of sparkly glitter on top and soap confetti inside ~</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120601_172159.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120601_172159.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Another new soap 'Vanilla Sunshine' - using vanilla bean powder and tolu balsam essential oil for the swirl and folded orange essential oil for the main scent, this soap smells very orange zesty with a vanilla base note. It also has almond milk and kaolin clay added ~</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120526_173205.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120526_173205.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I have also been playing with lovely body creams. Here is my newest emulsified body butter, called 'Beautiful Butter' because it <i>is</i>. It has lots of lovely moisturising ingredients and was originally created for my niece to use on her pregnant belly. We soon discovered it to be totally excellent for dry, chapped winter skin <b>anywhere</b> on your body ~</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120619_162021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120619_162021.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Lastly, I have been creating and testing facial moisturisers. My favourite so far is 'HoneyBee Cream'. I add royal jelly and a modified beeswax called cera bellina and it is perfect for my normal to oily facial skin. It makes a very nice light body cream too ~</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaowjhyknSV5Chpxm4-NJ4ZIphOg8hvQJQUT4z4Q0RxKeQm1AMrwKbfSgwDi4HQGg2dSuEoNtYQ3SVwRE8LByd0bSaA5wfKaWoDbMZhI5IvPi5gqIqsDdX2xBOYAnHBtdqnO-tf_Thviqv/s1600/20120612_151851.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaowjhyknSV5Chpxm4-NJ4ZIphOg8hvQJQUT4z4Q0RxKeQm1AMrwKbfSgwDi4HQGg2dSuEoNtYQ3SVwRE8LByd0bSaA5wfKaWoDbMZhI5IvPi5gqIqsDdX2xBOYAnHBtdqnO-tf_Thviqv/s320/20120612_151851.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I will be back very soon with some polished up pics to share. Thank you for being patient with me and have a lovely day!</span>Topcathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11863479657181221708noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2379047203459943693.post-4472242535979249072012-03-02T15:26:00.000+11:002012-03-02T15:26:06.131+11:00My Really, Really HAPPY Soap!<span style="font-size: small;">Hi everyone! Oh, I so love looking at... and sniffing... this lovely soap. It was quite simple to make and it truly makes me smile to see it. I created it to be a companion to my 'Lavender Fields' soap, using the same basic recipe yet changing the scent and colours. Called 'Orange Grove' ~ I used a Bramble Berry fragrance oil of the same name to scent it and it smells fantastic! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">The fragrance is an interpretation of the Elizabeth Arden perfume <i>Sunflowers</i> ~ "this is what sunflowers would smell like if they were placed smack dab in the middle of <span class="text_exposed_show">a orange grove in full bloom! With some unique middle notes of jasmine, cyclamen and peach, this fragrance has nuance and charm. Subtle musk and vanilla notes hold up the fragrance making it a beguiling sunny floral".</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><span class="text_exposed_show"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><span class="text_exposed_show">The fragrance is teamed with one of my personal favourite soap recipes including silk, lashings of olive oil and a generous amount of sunflower oil added for a moisturising boost. Shea butter is also included for added creaminess and this recipe has a lovely silky lather.</span></span><br />
<br />

Have you met Donna from the <a href="http://midlifefarmwife.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/saponification-sunday-etcetcetc.html">Midlife Farmwife blog</a>? I love reading her blog for she covers such wide ranging topics as raw milk, saponification Sundays and insightful glimpses in the life of a farmer on a certified organic dairy, beef and swine farm in Illinois USA.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"> (which is for sale if you would like to buy it - have a look <a href="http://certifiedorganicfarm.blogspot.com.au/">HERE</a>)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Donna most generously agreed to a soap swap with me recently and promptly sent me three lovely bars of saponifed goodness, together with a beautifully embroidered handkerchief from her collection. I say 'promptly' as I hadn't even posted my parcel to her! I was waiting on a soap to cure ~ that's my excuse and I am sticking to it :p</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I was surprised when several days later another parcel turned up from Donna.... I thought "oh my goodness, she has forgotten she already sent me one and did it again!" Yes, I know, not. very. likely. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Imagine my delight when I opened the second parcel to see this ~</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120212_195808.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120212_195808.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">What gorgeous, rich colours and smelling of all things spicy and warm... mmmm. Donna tells you all about its creation <a href="http://midlifefarmwife.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/saponification-sundaysuberb.html">in this blog POST</a>. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Okay, here are all the lovely soaps she was kind enough to share with me (click on the pic so you can see them better)...</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120212_195844.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120212_195844.jpg" width="240" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">From top to bottom ~ the cute tree shape is Eucalyptus soap and smells so refreshing; Peppermint Polly, Cinnamon Coffee Cake and Once In a Green Moon (don't you love that name?). </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Here they are labelled (I tore the wrapper of the tree one so it didn't get a pic) and my apologies if it is still viewing sideways when you read this. For some reason it looks perfectly fine in my photobucket account, but not here? ~</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120212_195636.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120212_195636.jpg" width="240" /></a></span></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">And now I want to share how lovely these all are to use. Donna puts much thought into the creation of each of her soaps </span><span style="font-size: small;">and it shows</span><span style="font-size: small;">, even if she then tends to multitask while she is actually making them... lol.</span></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">The first one that just begged me to try it was Once In a Green Moon. I love the soft green tones and crisply white topping. Its scent is fresh and bright with essential oils of Clary Sage and Eucalyptus and it has been coloured with wheat grass powder. That is definitely going on my list of natural colourants to use in the near future. I love the embedded 'moons' too.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">After that Peppermint Polly was grabbed greedily ~ such pretty pink tones! ~ and smelling sweetly with nicely balanced, light mint. The Eucalyptus tree shape followed with its fresh and uplifting scent and mottled green patterns. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">All of these soaps create abundant lather from the very first few turns on my washcloth, building very quickly into thick, creamy lather with a very silken feel that lasts all shower long and then some. The lathers of Green Moon and the Eucalyptus tree feel very soft and almost slippery on my skin and Peppermint Polly also is very soft with a silky feel. I haven't yet used the Coffee Cake soap as it is just nearing its curing time (I like to try a soap after it has reached four weeks of age). It will be a special treat for my very next shower! Oh, and here is one more pic because I am very happy with it ~</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120212_195911.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120212_195911.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Have a wonderful day!</span></div>Topcathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11863479657181221708noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2379047203459943693.post-42138554853101077902012-02-19T13:24:00.000+11:002012-02-19T13:24:52.565+11:00Waste Not, Want Not....<span style="font-size: small;">You may remember I recently posted pics of my Valentine's Days soaps <a href="http://titaniasdreamydelights.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/valentines-day-soaps-now-cut.html">here</a>. Well, I am sad to say that Love Dust lost its scent entirely within a few days of cutting *sad face* Never mind - the fragrance oil is soooo lovely and I will still scent my lotions and scrubs with it!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I have been pondering what to do with Love Dust as I know from experience that unscented soap doesn't sell well at my market stall unless it also uncoloured <i>and</i> targets sensitive skin. Here is the first soap I have made using shavings and soap balls. It is scented with a fragrance oil from Natures Garden called "Kiss and Tell" and is still waiting to be cut....</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Love Dust reincarnated (aka Kiss Me) - just out of the mould this morning</span><br />

<span style="font-size: small;">I have three more to share once I take some pictures today. They have been made in my divider slab mould and need trimming to be ready for their closeups ;)</span><br />

Really, <i>that </i>soon? How does that happen? ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">As I sold quite a lot of my soaps in the run up to Christmas I have lots of re-makes to do. However, Valentine's Day is taking precedence in my soap kitchen creation area. I have some limited edition soaps just made and not yet cut. Would you like to see some 'quick and dirty' pics?</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">On the left is Love Dust ~ using an interpretation of Fairy Dust fragrance. This one set up fairly quickly so I didn't get the pretty, wispy swirls I envisioned. <br />
On the right is Hello Handsome (corny, yes I know) ~ using an interpretation of Very Sexy for Him fragrance. They are both still gelling here. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120106_210448.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120106_210448.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
Here is Love Dust just out of the mould. I still love how it turned out ... air pockets and all!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120107_141416.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120107_141416.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"> </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Hello Handsome and my other new Valentine's Day soap ~ Soft Kisses ~ sitting on my curing rack waiting to be cut. These are my first 2 ever hanger swirls and I think they worked! I will know more when I actually get them cut. They are still a little soft for that. <br />
Soft Kisses is an interpretation of Cashmere Mist fragrance and smells gorgeous!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120107_141443.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120107_141443.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120107_141450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20120107_141450.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I realised after posting these pics on my soaping forum that there is a spider web residing on the wall behind my soap racks - you can see it in the photos. LOL! I actually just looked and I can't even see it with the naked eye (even wearing glasses) yet I could feel a wisp of web when I brushed at it. You <strong>do</strong> know that Australia is full of spiders - all year round? <i>Especially</i> in summer. <br />
I try hard not to think about it....</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I will put up some photos of the cut soaps once I am able to. I love cutting into a new soap design/colour/fragrance to see just what I have created with the magic of saponification!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />

I will be there on Christmas Eve Saturday too, so if you are in the area, please drop by and say hello!</span><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">You can see my new (to me) soy wax melts for tart warmers and oil burners in the above pic. I have had so much fun making these! I used both the clamshell moulds/containers and also fluted tart moulds in order to create a stack of melts that, from a distance, looks a little like a christmas tree...lol.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Writing my blog is fun but it wouldn't be worthwhile without YOU ~ thank you for taking the time to read and look at my pictures. If you have left comments, thank you for that too.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: small;">Have a wonderful Festive Season and if we don't catch up here again before January, have an awesome New Year! xxx</span>Topcathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11863479657181221708noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2379047203459943693.post-33416767959541635902011-11-17T17:45:00.000+11:002011-11-17T17:45:45.530+11:00A Very 'Beachy' Christmas.....<span style="font-size: small;">Here in Australia we celebrate Christmas during a long, hot and often humid summer. Many of my fondest Christmas memories from my childhood and teen years centre around day trips to the beach... the waves rolling rhythmically onto the sand; my sun-warmed beach towel underneath me; heated body cooled while eating an orange ice-block (icypole); suntan oil liberally spread...</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Let me introduce you to 'Beach Christmas' soap. Each layer has a different scent which, when sniffed, take me back to those lazy summer days... ahhhhh...</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111114_141008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111114_141008.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111114_141251.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111114_141251.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">The painting in the last picture was my inspiration for the colour and look of the top two layers. It was painted by my uncle and given to me as a fantastic 50th birthday present for my last birthday <3 </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">What nostalgic scents come to mind for you when you think of Christmas? I would love to know!</span><br />

<span style="font-size: small;">Have an awesome day *smile*</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"> </span>Topcathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11863479657181221708noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2379047203459943693.post-68610471373954504132011-11-14T07:26:00.000+11:002011-11-14T07:26:28.396+11:00Merry Berry and Citrus Spice ... Getting in the Christmas Groove!<span style="font-size: small;">As with many soapers, food seems to be a catalyst for several of my creations. I am very partial to food-type scents and decided to play with blending fragances just for Christmas.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Merry Berry has a custom fragrance blend of berries, wild currant, fig, citrus, sandalwood, musk and vanilla ~ with juicy berries and citrus being the most noticeable part. It makes my mouth water to sniff it! Some opal white and Christmas red glitters set it off nicely.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111108_182803.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111108_182803.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111108_182842.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111108_182842.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Citrus Spice has Australian red clay, with just a titch of ground nutmeg added and a little cinnamon essential oil, swirled through a white soap. The white is scented with a fresh and mouthwatering tropical citrus blend ~ yummy! Of course, being a Christmas-themed soap I did have to add glitter *wink*</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111108_183005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111108_183005.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111108_182923.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111108_182923.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Stay tuned for a few more 'just for Christmas' soaps to come!</span></div>Topcathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11863479657181221708noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2379047203459943693.post-24055237913336784252011-11-11T17:03:00.001+11:002011-11-11T20:33:45.007+11:00Trees and Stars.....<span style="font-size: small;">My first batch of Christmas soaps turned out just as I expected. This is hardly surprising, as they are simply creamy white soap made with one of my favourite oil blends ~ olive, coconut, soybean and shea butter. With red or green embeds and sparkly glitter (<b>have</b> to have glitter on Christmas soap!) they look elegant, yet festive.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">These are scented with Bramble Berry's 'Fresh Snow' fragrance oil ~ designed to mimic the feeling of peace and tranquility after a fresh snow fall. I really <i>love</i> this scent and it soaps beautifully.</span><br />

So sorry for the delay but I sold it all before I could photograph it! I recently made it again so here it is before it is all gone again!</span><br />

</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I also made a yummy Oatmeal Stout beer soap, fragranced with Bramble Berry's gorgeous scent. It smells like Anzac biscuits warm from the oven with extra spice and orange zest. This one set up quite quickly so it does look a little rustic, which I think suits it very well. It looks like baked goods rather than soap *grin*</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111014_154449.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111014_154449.jpg" width="240" /></a></span></div><br />

<span style="font-size: small;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">The last one I want to show you is my new look Heavenly Hibiscus. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Here it is in its first incarnation...</span><br />

<span style="font-size: small;">And here is the updated look...</span><br />

</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I chose the purple to match my lovely native hibiscus which is flowering right now. Not quite a match yet still a gorgeous purple...</span><br />

In September she found out she has Islet Cell cancer, also called pancreatic endocrine neoplasm tumor ~ the same type of cancer that Apple co-founder Steve Jobs had. Luckily, hers was found in its very early stages during a scan taken for other medical reasons. Most pancreatic cancers are not diagnosed until symptoms eventuate and this is often too late for a successful cure. My friend recently had surgery to remove the growth at the Mayo Clinic and should make a full recovery now ~ hallelujah! This procedure has not been without its complications, however she now has the all clear to travel home.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I, along with many others from our soaping forum, created a new soap to send to her as a 'get well' gift. This new soap was not without its challenges, setting up much too quickly for the finished effect I was going for....lol. However I am still pleased with the result and a bar will be winging its way to the US very soon.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I have called it 'Mystique' aka 'Krissy's Dream'. Scented with a mysterious fragrance ~ wafting from ancient sacred spaces, filled with the aromatic scents of a romantic time past ~ an enlightened blend of juniper, earthy patchouli, musky oakmoss and rich vanilla; rose geranium and jasmine weave throughout to give an uplifting sweet note.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"> I added moisturising buttermilk, silk and a generous amount of organic cocoa butter for extra luscious lather...</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111009_160314.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/tanyachappell/20111009_160314.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"> <span style="font-size: small;">For you Krissy!</span></div><span style="font-size: small;"><br />

Two fondant mats with floral impressions on them to line my slab moulds ~ thank you Monet! I am always looking for new ways to feed my soaping obsession and these mats have been sooo much fun to soap with.</span></span></h6><h6 class="uiStreamMessage" data-ft="{"type":1}" style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">Here is the first soap I made in my slab mould using the vines impression mat. Here is my new version of 'Heavenly Silk' soap, scented with a blend of may chang and lavender essential oils and coloured with Australian yellow clay. Music gives me wings....lol. </span><br />
